Profile
Roberto Lugo MD Bio Roberto Lugo MD is a Board Eligible Orthopaedic Surgeon with specialty training in Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy as well as general orthopaedics. Dr. Lugo is a graduate of Yale University where he obtained a degree with honors in Molecular and Cellular Biology. Dr. Lugo earned his medical degree from Yale University School of Medicine where he participated in mentoring programs and presented his orthopaedic research at the national level. He completed his Orthopaedic Surgery Residency at the University of California San Francisco where he was awarded special recognition for research in shoulder fractures and rotator cuff repairs. He completed an accredited Sports Medicine Fellowship at the San Diego Arthroscopy and Sports Medicine Fellowship in San Diego, CA. During Fellowship, he participated in the care of the San Diego Padres professional baseball team through Scripps Clinic. His training includes the treatment of complex knee and shoulder injuries as well as the latest advances in arthroscopic techniques and cartilage preservation. Dr. Lugo recently joined the Coastal Orthopaedic team in August of 2010. His research has been published in peer-reviewed medical journals and has been presented at several Orthopaedic Society meetings. He is a candidate member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and a member of the Arthroscopy Association of North America and the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine.
