  • Purpose:  To confirm the accuracy of the techniques VGTI Scientists are using in the laboratory to study the immune cells in the blood.

Eligibility 

  • 18-85 yrs old.
  • In good general health and have good arm veins
  • Willing to be tested for HIV/Hepatitis
  • Able to tolerate a lengthy blood donation
  • Not be immunocompromised

HIV Infection

  • Disease Stage:  HIV Infected Individuals
  • Status:  Recruiting
  • Sponsor:  VGTI-FL
  • Title: Therapeutic and Natural Control of HIV Infection (involves leukapheresis and optional tissue biopsies)
  • Phase:  n/a
  • Purpose:  This study is designed to evaluate the different  factors that may affect the body’s response to HIV, drug resistance (if the virus in the body does not respond to certain drugs), as well as white blood cells (CD4 cells) dedicated to the immune system. The results of this study may allow us to better understand why this disease progresses slower in some people than in others.

Eligibility 

  • >/= 18 yrs, cleared by Investigator to participate
  • HIV infected for at least 24 months
  • Able to tolerate a lengthy blood donation (must have good arm veins)
  • Female: not be pregnant or breastfeeding

Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL)

  • Disease Stage:  Individuals diagnosed with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL), any Stage
  • Status:  Recruiting
  • Sponsor:  VGTI-FL
  • Title: Implication of FOXO3a Signaling and Tfh Cell Help in the Self-Renewal and Survival of GC-Derived Memory B-Cells
  • Phase:  n/a
  • Purpose:  This research project will study the B-cells and the effect of the cancer and chemotherapy on these cells, so that we can better treat leukemia in the future, and to determine whether FOXO3a contributes to immortality of leukemic cells.

Eligibility 

  • >/= 18 yrs.
  • Diagnosed with CLL
  • Willing to donate small amount of peripheral blood
  • Female: not be pregnant or breastfeeding
