Martin Health System would like to assure our patients and their families that they are at no risk related to the recent national outbreak of rare fungal meningitis.
Since mid-September, more than 200 people in 14 states – including Florida – have been diagnosed with fungal meningitis that is linked to contaminated pain injections from one specific company, the New England Compounding Center (NECC).
The NECC is not one of our accepted vendors and none of the sterile products supplied by the Martin Health pharmacy service to our physicians, hospitals or clinics were packaged by the NECC.
Martin Health prides itself on providing the highest level of care possible to our patients. As part of that commitment, the MHS pharmacy service carefully scrutinizes vendors prior to making any purchase and requires FDA certified sterility documentation for repackaged products. Taking these steps is designed to ensure the safety and quality of the products we provide. If you have further questions please do not hesitate to contact us at info@martinhealth.org.
