Angie Metcalf named Martin Health System Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer

STUART, Fla., Nov. 26, 2012 – Angie Metcalf was recently appointed vice president and chief human resources officer for Martin Health System.
Metcalf, who has been with Martin Health since 2005, has more than 20 years of human resources experience. She has worked in a variety of fields, ranging from health care to financial services and telecommunication, including roles with four Fortune 500 companies – GE Capital, Contel, Ryder System and Spherion Corporation.
In her new capacity at Martin Health, Metcalf oversees all human resources functions for 3,000 associates and 800 volunteers.
“Martin Health System plays a critical role in this community, both as a health care provider and as one of the largest employers in our region,” Metcalf said. “We have an exceptional workforce, with dedicated, compassionate associates and I am excited to continue building on our tradition of providing exceptional health care to Treasure Coast residents.”
Metcalf began her tenure at Martin Health as manager of learning and organizational development, before being promoted to corporate director of human resources in 2006. She assumed the role of assistant vice president of human resources in May 2012, following the departure of former vice president and chief human resources officer, Amy Barry.
During Metcalf’s time at Martin Health, the organization has been named a national Employer of Choice for three consecutive years, and has earned recognition as a Best Places to Work in both Martin and St. Lucie counties.
Metcalf , who was raised in St. Lucie County, earned her bachelor’s degree from Stetson University and an MBA from the University of Florida. She has served six years on the board of directors for Workforce Solutions, including her current role as Chair. Metcalf also has held positions on the Stuart/Martin County Chamber of Commerce Leadership Planning Committee and the Boys and Girls Club of Martin County.
