STUART, Fla., Jan 6, 2014 – The National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) announced that the Martin Pediatric Care location in Stuart, Florida has received recognition from the Patient-Centered Medical Home program for using evidence-based, patient-centered processes that focus on highly coordinated care and long-term participative relationships. Martin Pediatric Care in Stuart is staffed by Genon Wicina M.D. and Susan Bravo A.R.N.P.

The patient-centered medical home is a model of care that emphasizes care coordination and communication and has been proven to lead to higher quality and lower costs while improving the experience of care for both patients and providers.

“The patient-centered medical home raises the bar in defining high-quality care by emphasizing access, health information technology and partnerships between clinicians and patients,” said Margaret O’Kane, NCQA President. “This recognition shows that Martin Pediatric Care in Stuart has the tools, systems and resources to provide their patients with the right care at the right time.”

The National Committee for Quality Assurance is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to improving health care quality and has been a central figure in driving improvement throughout the health care system, helping to elevate the issue of health care quality to the top of the national agenda.

Dr. Wicina said the future of healthcare is based on the patient-centered medical home model. “This is the foundation of an Accountable Care Organization and the first step in bringing this model to Martin Medical Group,” Wicina said. “Achieving the status of a patient-centered medical home means we are equipped to provide our patients with the very best care.”
