New Ostomy Support Group at Martin Medical Center
Stuart, Fl - Individuals who have an ostomy, and their family members or caregivers, will soon have a new support system available to them. The wound care program at Martin Health in Stuart is starting an Ostomy Support Group on Thursday, April 10, from 6:30-7:30 p.m. The meeting will be held in Conference Room A at Martin Medical Center, 200 SE Hospital Avenue in Stuart.
At this initial meeting, participants will be surveyed to determine a regular meeting time going forward. In addition to peer and professional support, the group will include information about products, trouble-shooting complications and coping skills.
“We invite anyone who has an ostomy, or will be receiving an ostomy in the near future, to join us,” said Elizabeth Hanley, RN, WCC, OMS, leader of ostomy support services. “The support group will be designed to help participants overcome any challenges they face in relation to their ostomy and support them in a return to their life style.”
