Norman A. Palmeri, M.D. Dr. Palmeri has over two decades of experience in orthopaedic surgery, including special training and treatment of athletic injuries. He was recently appointed team physician for the New York/St. Lucie Mets and has demonstrated a commitment to athletics, including treatment of local high school football and baseball players. Dr. Palmeri’s commitment to sports related injuries developed through specialized training and research in sports medicine, through which Dr. Palmeri was honored by the North American Arthroscopy Association for outstanding achievements in orthopaedic surgery and arthroscopy for the development of arthroscopic techniques for the repair of knee meniscus injuries. Dr. Palmeri was the co-inventor of an absorbable anchor to repair this without open incisions through a minimally invasive technique. Dr. Palmeri has also pioneered local introduction of techniques for robotic and computer assisted partial knee replacement surgery and minimally invasive surgery of the hip and knee. Dr. Palmeri was Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery in 1994 and once again in 2004. He is a diplomat of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery and the Florida Orthopaedic Society . Dr. Palmeri as authored and co-authored numerous scientific publications, including those presented at national orthopaedic society meetings and is listed in Who’s Who in Medicine. Dr. Palmeri feels that the care of orthopaedic patients involves decisions for both the patient and the physician and would like to enlist the patients in his decision making process, offering them multiple options whenever available, including the latest innovations available. He feels that patients of Coastal Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine Center should be treated like family, keeping the patients' best interests in mind, utilizing the utmost concern in determining treatment and quality of care.
