Group and Private Swim Lessons

Next Kids swim lesson 8-week session

August 15- October 3


STEPS TO REGISTER:

1. Come into the Jensen Beach Health & Fitness Center at the Treasure Coast Medical Pavillion to register.

2. Fill out the registration materials or download them here and bring the completed paperwork in with you, this will speed up the process.

**You can not register over the phone.

3. The customer service representative will ask you about your child's swimming abilites. Please look below at the criteria for the different swim lesson levels to determine where your child should be placed.

Rates: $79 for Members; $89 for Non-Members

**On the first day of class, if the child cannot swim to the abilites of that particular swim lesson level, the instructor will move the child to the appropriate class.

Group swim lessons must have 3 or more participants.

 

It's never to late to learn how to swim!

If you are an adult, we do have swim lessons for you

Private Lessons are available by appointment

$30 per half hour, packages available - come into the center to register.

 

Swim Lesson Descriptions

Parent Assisted Swim Lesson Levels

Parent + Infant (6 mo. – 18 mo.) & Parent + Toddler (19 mo. – 3 yrs.)

  • Both classes held in the “Round Pool” which is kept between 91 – 92 oF
  • Parent is in the water with the child
  • Increase comfort and safety of child in water
  • Facial submersion with parents’ permission
  • Focus on safety
  • Front and back float supported
  • Front and back crawl supported

Non – Parent Assisted Swim Lesson Levels

For children over 3 years of age

 Skill and comfort in the water determines level placement. The levels below have criteria in which each participant must be comfortable to graduate to the next level. The instructors will make the determination to move the participant into a lower or higher level based upon confidence with the skills and comfort with the water.

Level I – Water Exploration and Intro to Skills (Young Level I - 3 -4 yrs.  & Level I - 3 yrs. +)

  • Both classes held in the “Round Pool” which is kept between 91 – 92 oF
  • Full facial submersion
  • Front and back float with support while saying ABC’s
  • Kicking while on front and back with support
  • Comfort with floating/treading water with supp0rt
  • Safety of entering and exiting pool

To graduate to level II, the child must be able to:

  • Float on front and back unsupported while saying ABC’s
  • Swim on front and back without assistance
  • Jump into the pool without assistance
  • Pick up toys from the bottom of the pool
  • Complete confidence when in the water and with safety goals

Level II: Fundamental Aquatic Skills

  • Class held in in the “Lap Pool” which is kept between 85 – 87 oF
  • Swim on front and back for 5 yards without assistance
  • Float on front and back unsupported while saying ABC’s
  • Enter and exit the water without assistance
  • Very calm and confident in the water

To graduate to level III, the child must be able to:

  • Front and back crawl 5 – 10 yards
  • Confident entering and exiting water in the Lap Pool
  • Float on front and back unsupported with ease
  • Swim under the water

Level III: Stroke Development

  • Class held in in the “Lap Pool” which is kept between 85 – 87 oF
  • Front and back glides
  • Feet-first surface dive
  • Front and back crawl 20 yards
  • Treading water using two different kicks
  • Elementary backstroke
  • Basic front stroke, backstroke, breaststroke, sidestroke 20 yards

To graduate to level IV, the child must be able to:

  • Display endurance with the above criteria
  • Deep water bobs
  • Jump into deeper water

Level IV: Stroke Improvement

  • Class held in in the “Lap Pool” which is kept between 85 – 87 oF
  • Increase endurance and proficiency of Level 3’s criteria
  • Introduction to the sidestroke

To graduate to level V, the child must be able to:

  • Preform all types of strokes confidently for 40 yards

Level V: Stoke Refinement

  • Class held in in the “Lap Pool” which is kept between 85 – 87 oF
  • Front and back crawl for 60 + yards
  • Breaststroke and sidestroke for 40 yards
  • Elementary backstroke and regular backstroke for 40 yards
  • Front stroke for 60 + yards
  • Turns with head submerged
