Sugar Drinks Linked to Diabetes

Drinking sugar-sweetened soft drinks and fruit punches seem to boost the risk for type 2 diabetes and obesity. A study in 2004 in the Journal of the American Medical Association found that women who drank at least one sugar-sweetened beverage a day increased their risk for type 2 diabetes by 83 percent. Women having at least one sugar drink a day also gained more weight than those who drank other beverages.
