(HealthDay News) -- Along with calculating your body-mass index, measuring your waist is a good way to determine if you're at a healthy weight.
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention explains how to measure your waist:
Wrap a measuring tape around your abdomen, making sure the tape is parallel to the floor.
Measure your bare abdomen, placing the tape just above your hip bone.
Fit the measuring tape so it fits snugly without pushing into your skin.
Exhale and relax, and take the measurement.
