Overview
Since 1999, the Robert and Carol Weissman Cancer Center has combined medical expertise with advanced technology and access to clinical trials for the most promising new treatments. Our cancer program is a center of excellence accredited by the Commission on Cancer.

Radiation Oncology
Our specialty trained board-certified radiation oncologists are skilled in both standard and unique radiation therapies. The most advanced image guided stereotactic radiosurgery is available with Novalis Tx™. Our linear accelerators, in conjunction with a sophisticated treatment planning system, allow us to provide Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT) and Image Guided Radiation Therapy (IGRT). We also offer brachytherapy, a type of internal radiation therapy that delivers high doses of radiation from implants placed close to or inside the tumor(s) in the body, minimizing the risk of damage to surrounding healthy tissue.

Center for Lung Health
Our Center for Lung Health offers a multidisciplinary approach to diagnosing and treating cancers of the lung, chest and esophagus. The Center offers patients access to a broad range of specialties for cancer treatment including thoracic surgery, medical oncology, radiation oncology, infusion services and social services. The Center for Lung Health also features a lung health navigator who provides support and assists with the patient’s overall experience, from intake and scheduling to referrals and the development of a treatment plan.

Infusion Suite
The infusion suite offers chemotherapy and medical infusion services performed by oncology-certified RNs with a clinical pharmacist on site.

Oncology Rehabilitation
This program is designed for oncology patients who have been receiving inpatient rehab or home health services and are ready to progress to the next level of outpatient rehabilitation needs. The program offers options for land and aquatic rehab, as well as an individualized therapy program based on personal assessment and cancer protocol.

Physician Offices
Physicians specializing in oncology and hematology have offices located in the Robert and Carol Weissman Cancer Center. This provides patients the convenience of having a number of cancer resources available in one location.

Clinical Social Work Services
A licensed clinical social worker is an integral part of the health care team at the cancer center, collaborating with other disciplines to provide the team with an understanding of the patient’s individual situation.

In addition, the social worker acknowledges the psychosocial and spiritual concerns of family members and respects each patient’s personal dignity by providing care focused on his or her specific needs.

Medical Nutrition Therapy
The outpatient nutrition program helps patients maintain optimal nutrition while undergoing treatment. Eating the right kinds of foods before, during and after treatment, and getting enough of the proper nutrients, can be a challenge.

Cancer Navigators
Martin Health’s cancer navigator program is designed to assist people who have been recently diagnosed with cancer, already are coping with the disease or are living with a recurrence. The program helps individuals through the process, answers questions and helps provide necessary resources.
